Alaska State Taxes give the State of Alaska a ranking of 38 out of 50, in terms of the overall tax burden as compared to all other states in the U.S..

Alaska Alcohol Tax:

There is an additional tax on non-participating manufacturer (NPM) cigarettes of $.25 per pack.
Effective April, 2009, in addition to the state tax, there was an additional federal sales tax of $1.01 collected on every pack.

Distributors are required to apply this rate to all distributions of tobacco products, other than cigarettes.

There is no Alaska State Income Tax! Congratulations if you live in or are thinking of moving to Alaska! While there is no income tax in Alaska, there are certainly other types of taxes collected as you can see here on this page.
There are 25 municipalities in the State of Alaska that have taxing jurisdiction with the authority to levy a Property Tax. There are 12 of 16 organized boroughs and 13 cities outside of organized boroughs that do so. The unincorporated areas of the state do not have the legal authority to levy a tax. At this time, the State of Alaska does not have a State Sales Tax. However, there are many local jurisdictions that do impose local sales taxes. Click Here to see which local jurisdictions do impose a local sales tax.

(They call this tax a “Fee” in Alaska.)
There is a tire fee (tax) on all new tires sold in Alaska. However, there is also an additional $5.00 tire fee for the sale of tires with (heavy) studs weighing more than 1.1 grams each - so a new tire purchased with these studs will incur a $7.50 fee (tax).
The additional tire fee applies to the installation of heavy studs in both new and used tires. The division collects tire fees primarily from tire dealerships. Click Here for more information.
