Colorado State Taxes give the State of Colorado a ranking of 24 out of 50, in terms of the overall tax burden as compared to all other states in the U.S..

Colorado Alcohol Tax:

Colorado Cigarette Tax:

Effective April, 2009, in addition to the state tax, there is an additional federal sales tax of $1.01 collected on every pack.
Colorado Cigar Tax:
Distributors are required to apply this rate to all distributions of tobacco products, other than cigarettes.

Both real property and personal property are taxable in Colorado unless specifically exempted by law. Each political subdivision calculates a tax rate based on the revenue needed from property tax and the total assessed value of real and personal property located within the political subdivision's boundaries. Many of Colorado's cities and counties, impose their own sales and use taxes on top of the State Tax rate. The rates for these local taxing authorities range anywhere from 0.50% to 4.50%. | Colorado Tire Tax: | $1.50 Per Tire |
(Like most other places, they call this tax a “Fee” in Colorado too.)
The State of Colorado collects this "fee" from people who buy new tires from retail tire stores in Colorado.
This tire fee is allocated to funds administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education and the Colorado Department of Public Health for loans and studies, as well as reimbursements for processing recycling and waste diversion activities.
